A Poem by Laura

A hard life it is
That I've lived for so long
A life of wandering and instability
Without a family to call my own
Without a sister and brother
To play with
And without my mom and ba
To love me

My cold feet, hitting the pavement below,
Blistered from the journeys I've walked
Without the protection of socks

My body, small, and my hair, dirty,
A small inconvenience compared to the hunger in my belly

Oh God, what would I do for a piece of bread
A piece of nourishment,
For my body and mind

Please forgive me
In the instances I have turned to theft

A life without family
A life without food
And a life without shelter
How could God treat me so?

Wandering around
In search for something better
I wait to stumble upon something new

One foot in front of the other
I continue the journey, thinking,
Maybe, oh maybe, I will find God
