Sugar LiesA Poem by Laura3841Sweet words from you meant nothing when you said them on the fly, You danced through my sensations and I lived through the lies
Your good intentions meant nothing when you walked out and slammed the door And left your child crying because he believed in you once more
Your promises meant nothing because you loved the bottle more, Forgetting to come home again while I steadily paced the floor
Your apologies meant nothing as well as anything you tried to say When hopeful little faces are left waiting because you forgot to visit that day
When I forgive you it means nothing though I may look you in the eyes My words can mean just as much as yours those sweet but empty sugar lies
