AlightA Poem by LaundieA dark themed poem based on high school experiences.
Hey, let me tell you a tale
Once upon a time there lived Barbies and Kens And everything not plastic burned You could try and make yourself plastic perfect Covering yourself with scars and burns Your hair will be too curly or straight Or you're too fat or thin You will never fit in I could try and tell you "Everything's alright" Just to keep your eyes alight but fuel burns more quickly when you need it most I guess were both tied to this post I won't tell you how my flames died or how many times I fight but I will say what I must to keep your eyes alight Wicked laughs fill our ears as we stand surrounded by our peers The pyres heating up tonight but please keep you're eyes alight I'm sorry for what is being done I'm a girl on the run I must burn for my deed Of just being me The law decrees those who are ugly are not worthy of love so sorry my dear you will never see your doves The toxicity we face The scars that never heal The life we live Will never keep your eyes alight So sorry little me for what will be done I'm afraid I've allowed myself to become unone so as the flames alight beneath us burning Keep your eyes alight with hopeful yearning
