Black Silence

Black Silence

A Poem by Latoria Sheppard
"

Just thought I'd speak my mind on areas on Blacks, African-Americans, and/or Colored people!

"
I'm Black silence in a room full of White noise and no one can hear my screams...
I came to realize my people are too caught up in today's nightmare they forget about tomorrow's dream.
I'm African ropes tied around Native bars and no one can see my hurt...
I noticed we are always searching for the grasses and hills but all we find is dirt.
I'm Colored fabric sewn together by broken pieces of truth...
We are forever getting older but our minds are stuck in youth.
I am black silence,
outraged violence,
external hate,
whites privileged bait,
a torn ballistic,
and came to believe I'm just another statistic!
