The Hardships Of Abundance

I overheard a conversation in which someone was complaining because they couldn’t make up their mind on which pair of shoes to wear because they had so many. I thought, ‘Oh you poor thing’.

The hardships of abundance
are driving her to the brink,
should she go for lunch today
in her blue dress or her pink?
or perhaps the little number
that she got from Calvin Klein?
it always looks so pretty
while she’s drinking Richebourg wine.

Should she take her private jet
to Paris or Milan?
Eat at Carlo Cracco’s
or visit Notre-Dame?
or settle for the oysters
that they serve at Clamato
they go down rather nicely
followed by Dom Pérignon

Perhaps she’ll take her boyfriend,
or the beefcake from the gym?
Her husbands out of town,
‘there’s no way she’s taking him!’
With oh so many choices,
now that life is at full throttle.
She’d pour herself a drink
if she could just decide which bottle.
