Pillar box red
Creosote brown
these are the colours
you’ll see in this town.
red brick dust,
comes down with the rain
Mr Fernández is crying again
A room with a view
of a wall in an alley
the children below
are going doolally
Could do with a drink
but I’ll have to abstain
Mr Fernández is crying again
Here the devil has followers
and God disbelievers
the floors have ears
and the walls transceivers
the meaning of joy
has become so arcane
Mr Fernández is crying again
If I’m ever free
of this forsaken place,
be it by death
or some act of grace,
I’ll never forget
that tears leave a stain
Mr Fernández is crying again.
I like the mystery here. Why is Mr. Fernandez crying?
Is it because life is on the outside and he is an agoraphobic ...he has a room with a view and wants
to do what he sees, but he cannot. He has thoughts of drink which makes me wonder if he has just lost everything he had because of alcohol and sees a life he threw away on the outside.
I really liked the journey here and the repetition of that last line of each stanza.
Also a really intricate rhyme pattern.

You are getting better with each new poem I read from You my friend. for some reason or another I feel that Mr. Fernández is a prisoner, not physically. but more in soul, his souls is trapped in these sad re brick streets absorbing the sadness each house, wall, each heart which passed by and so he cries them all out... I don't need to understand what You really mean, what I care about are the feelings. and You delivered well some melancholic, sad and frustrated ones.

Hello Lathen. I liked the poem. Left questions for the reader. I liked the repetition in the poem. Hard to escape memories. Thank you for sharing the amazing poetry.

Enjoyed the repetion in the final line of each stanza. It adds emphasis. Almost like an echo. Mr Fernández is doing alot of crying and if I lived where he lived, where the devil has followers and God disbelievers, I guess I might cry too. Strong write Lathe. I have a nice home in a decent area. I am reminded that many live in dilapidated buildings with damp conditions.
A strong piece of poetry Lathen. It feels like it speaks to a sense of solitude by an individual surrounded in a world loud and alive around him that he is not a part of. There is such a lonely sadness to this work. I myself living in an apartment complex these types of sounds through the walls are very familiar to me. And in some ways this piece is relatable. Nice work my friend.
