A Clever Little Bird

A Clever Little Bird

A Poem by Lathen Griffiths

A clever little bird
learned to sing a song of hope
so they set for it a trap
and caught it with a rope
then stuck it in a cage
to hear the song it sings
but it never sang no more
of the hope that freedom brings.

Beautifully written indeed. We as humans often take precious things and destroy it. The bird in this poem was singing marvelously only to be taken by the humans, trapped in a cage, and it no longer sings. Why must we be like this? Destroy everything that is precious? The bird would have sung if it wasn't caged up. Greed and selfish, human can be.

This had great rhythm through the whole piece. Sadly many beautiful things in this world are ruined by peoples desires and nature to want to put them on display. I thought this portrayed that perfectly, such a nice poem.

Like the Emperor's Nightingale. She too, could not sing while caged. But when set free, she came every night and sang him to sleep. Well written. A beautiful poem.

Gee
Many a woman will relate to having their wings clipped and their husband's ruing the fact the wedding ring now nestled comfortably around both her ankles :)

Thank you Gee, very true of course, have a lovely weekend:)
Took away its freedom and lost its song of freedom and joy. Sad but happens to humans too.
A good poem with a message.
