     Love in the Alley
      C.R.  Lasla Moore 2012

Shadows lay upon the ground
 Ancient oaks standing tall soaking
In the warm rays of the sun
The ghosts of the past linger in their spirits
Sharing their wisdom with weary travelers

I find myself here in the dark of night
Running from my hurt
 Fears rushing my senses
I learned so much from you
Now they are shadows
Only in my soul
Where they shall remain
Forever stoned as
Shadows of the heart

Dark and cold they follow me wherever I go
Centuries could not remove these shadows
that were once full of grace and love
Your smile will remain with me
I walk in the night’s darkest shadows
Hunting and searching for the night’s lost ones

A wisp of blood seductively drifts
Gently on the sultry breeze
Sending my senses shuttering
As a predator to its prey
Ravishing the nights chosen one
Never leaving a drop to spare
Voided of life’s precious nectar
The time is now,
I can smell the sorrow

I find her standing alone
Crying in the shadows
Her life torn in shards tears pouring from her shattered soul
Glistening in the moonlight against her silky pale skin
Her love has left her standing in the shadows
Broken hearted
Full of fear, hatred
 Overcome by sadness

Time to make a move the time is now
I glide upon her in the dark to
Offer her comfort with  lustful intentions
She gladly accepts me there in shadows of the night

She reaches for me
An embrace to my icy touch
She hesitates, sighs
Then leans into me aching for
A kiss with feverish lust

I offer her comfort for eternity
In the blanket of shadows
She nods and accepts my intentions
Soft kisses to her neck
Soft quivers race over her
Gasps and moans soft touches

I feel her blood run, pumping hot and rich
With the true essence of life
So pure and sweet
Blood rights
I cannot refuse
I arch my head smiling knowingly at the stars

My fangs protruded awaiting the taste of sweet blood
With a swift, deft dive
They find her neck , plunging deep into her
Drinking her sweet essence
Her blood is rich and warm
Filling my desire and needs

She slumps into my arms
My task is done
Night sings its sultry nocturne
A light crosses her face
Wait
I know this beauty that rests in my arms

It cannot be that which was so long ago
How can it be?
NO! I scream into the night
 What have I done?
My love again is this you?
How is she next  to me ?
Now my victim after these centuries past

Can we now love forever?
 If I have the courage
To bring her to my world to be with me
How could she survive these centuries
Without the essence of our blood?
How could she be damned into the night
Yet human with a beating heart?
Wondering,  searching for me her lost love

Soon we shall be shadows in the night
 Shadows of our own heart
Shadows in our desire
She hangs in the night by a thread between two worlds
Time is nigh for her
To make her a shadow of the night
I open  my own life giving vein to feed her

The gift of rebirth into the shadows of eternal night
So we can sleep for a night and awake anew
Shadows in love hallowed in darkness
Sleep with me and awake at moonrise
Our shadowed love shall live forever
Shadows in the moonlight

Her eyes open wide with a smile
Upon the nights approach
A drop of blood falls from her eye
Hello my love

I have searched and missed you so
Drinking enough blood from one like you
keeping me alive for centuries longing for you
So that you could make me as you
I feel you have completed the task
Together we will be shadows wandering
through the veil of darkness

My blessed love our search is through
Shadows have made us what we are in the night
Together love for eternity basking ,hunting, loving
In the cover of the darkness

ONE WORD: AMAZING. I loved this poem. So much depth and passion. Something about vampires the past 3 years that has been a fascination of modern culture, such as "Twilight" etc. It's such a beautiful idea that he makes her his by consuming her, yet so alone in the end. When he sucks her blood it's almost as if they become one: one spirit, one blood, one beating heart. 100/100 my fav part:

Her life torn in shards tears pouring from her shattered soul
Glistening in the moonlight against her silky pale skin
Her love has left her standing in the shadows
Broken hearted
Full of fear, hatred
Overcome by sadness

A splendid read and write...:)

If old dracula were to write himself a love sonnet, I think this would be it. This is really, truly GOOD. A wisp of blood drifts seductively on the sultry breeze . . . there's more lust and horror and craving for the unknown in those words than in most vampire epics currently on our bookshelves

Very dark indeed. I can see this as a short story, athough it worked quite well as a poem. Good job!

Intriguing. You have a fairly nice poem here, if not a bit long winded, but solid. Very good use of language and emotion here, a lot of good details and sensory elements.
