The Most Important Lesson of All Time

The Most Important Lesson of All Time

A Poem by larry

When I was just a little girl
I was all alone in this big, big world.
Nothing to guide me.
But then I saw those two, playing together
And I found some people to help me see

How friends are the most important things you'll ever need
They will be the spiritual troughs from which you feed
If you're alone and in the dark
They'll look for you
And they'll find you and never let that dark break you apart.

But sometimes life doesn't go the way you want
It will slap you in the face and it WILL tease and taunt.
And sometimes you'll be alone
But you'll find someone
Even IF your heart becomes stiff and stale like a stone

But when no one's in sight
You'll have to win the fights
We all know how hard you try
just give me a sign
that you're okay and won't let life
bite.

Uplifting message of how friends can help you thru tough times. I'm glad you've had this experience, but not everyone does. So in the last stanza, you reach out to those who might not be feeling your message quite the same. Nice friendly touch & great ending. Frankly, in a couple spots, it feels like you're picking words that rhyme, rather than to fit well with your message . . . ex: "your heart becomes stiff and stale like a bone"
