Northern LightsA Poem by LareBearNorthern lightsThe
sun has set not to be seen for months on end. A
crust of snow coats the land in a harsh cold trend. The
trees have long ago shed a colorful death, And
Autumn has expired, rasping its final breath. A
single hawk soars above wailing a lonely cry " His
only response is the echo of a cold wind’s sigh. The
darkening sky reveals no moon in the heavens above; A
twilight grips the land with an ever-tightening glove. The
spirits dance in the Northern Lights; Ancient
ritual that bless the earth Brings
a colorfulness to the night Announcing
life, and love, and renewed rebirth! It’s
a crystal clear night with no clouds to obscure; An
earthly dance plays out on the upper stage so pure. The
delight that inspires with overwhelming awe Etches
on one’s soul digging in, deeply raw. A
hush, a quietness " no more rustling leaves or calling bird, And
listen, nature! For a cracklin’ can be heard. A
drapery hanging, delicately, flowing across the skies. Alas
the show completes, the curtains close and the scene dies. The
spirits dance in the Northern Lights; Ancient
ritual that bless the earth Brings
a colorfulness to the night Announcing
life, and love, and renewed rebirth! A
lucid memory lingers of an event not easily forgotten Stamped
into consciousness never fading " not there, not then. But,
wait, there’s always another act. Toss aside feelings forlorn! Like
a cycle round, glance up, for the pageantry shines reborn! The
spirits dance in the Northern Lights; Ancient
ritual that bless the earth Brings
a colorfulness to the night Announcing
life, and love, and renewed rebirth! Copyright
