When Muses Die

When Muses Die

A Poem by Whiskurz

We buried a muse the other day
For a poet laid down his quill
He said he'd never write again
For he simply refused to feel

Muses came from miles around
To tell their friend goodbye
Inspiration was everywhere
You should have heard them cry

They buried her in a special place
Up on Inspiration Hill
Paper flowers covered her grave
Her tombstone, the poet's quill

No one knows where muses go
When poets refuse to write
Maybe they simply disappear
Or maybe follow the light

The next time you get your writer's block
And you're feeling empty inside
Your inspiration has gone to a funeral
For another muse has died

This spoke volumes! Nora Ephron is smiling down from her lofty perch on high...

this is my favorite part because i always thought about the "muse" as individual so the is a great perspective!

I love this new personification and eccentric-ness of this piece. Your imagination is quite something. Keep writing. :)

Wow that looks like you've just written a new myth ! Great imagination, very original and enjoyable. I really loved reading it. Keep writing these kind of poems, they're beautiful ! Just a little correction: Muses were actually always females, they were the daughters of Zeus and Mnemosyne (the goddesses of memory).
Great job, definitely going to my favourites ... and get ready for my friend request ;)
