Lust

Lust

A Poem by Whiskurz

'Tis fate that blocks the path of hope
I know not where it leads
My eyes can't see my heart's desire
My conscience intercedes

I weep for love that's lost its way
An orphan of the heart
Hollow words now guide my steps
I know not where to start

An empty voice inside my mind
Beckons me to fall
But love still seems so far away
I dare not heed its call

Blinded by my wants and needs
And things I cannot touch
Temptation calls me ever close
I fear I want too much

My will has lost as pleasure wins
My doubt has turned to must
I cannot flee temptation's grip
A prisoner lost to lust

Your prolific writing skills are certainly a hit here. I find each and every one of your poems well written compelling and rife with emotion. The very essence of poetry. I envy the time you have to craft but simply insist that you keep doing so, for to stop would be at the very least horrific to those that like to gnaw on the bones of your mind.

What I find specific in this poem is the very fact of lust is often contained in something unattainable or simply out of reach. Knowing this you aptly describe how that reach causes further desire rather than the logic that would render the lust anemic and would corrupt the idea into wanting. You have captured not only the essence of lust but also the way it feeds and gestates upon itself.
