 Dying Words

Dying Words

A Poem by Whiskurz

By the time you read this, I will be gone
I will simply no longer exist
I'm using the last words you said to me
To drain the blood from my wrists

Your words cut through me like a suicide knife
Like the very sharp edge of goodbye
"I'm sorry" will not stop the bleeding
Nor will the tears that you cry

You filled my veins with your poison
With promises, that you didn't keep
You pierced my heart with all of your lies
The scars, I carry so deep

So how do you know when it's over?
When you given them all you can give
The tears that I cry are shaped like goodbye
With no longer a will to live

Nicely written (and rhymed) Whiskurz. This seems to have been written from experience. At least that's what I see in it, since I can relate if so, and have written about some of my own bittersweet experiences in my poetry before. I think most writers have to have been there and done that, before they can write convincingly about life and all it's foibles. Again, good write, and I'll be reading more of your poetry soon. I don't comment often tho, and I never comment at all if the poetry isn't at least up to minimal standards. I'm also a stern reviewer in the sense that I won't hesitate to suggest changes or improvements and won't review in exchange for a review, nor simply compliment casually, so if you don't like that in a reviewer let me know and I'll refrain from commenting. I've found that most writers do not accept anything but compliments and do not want to hear anything but good things. I don't like that either, but I won't take offense and much prefer honesty in reviews.
