Half of Me

Half of Me

A Poem by Whiskurz

My passion sits beneath a stone
A place where I can't go
For death has come to half of me
With one half dying slow
How cruel is death to take my heart?
But yet it lets me breathe
It came between the two of us
And it will not let me leave
Half of me has forsaken life
It lays out in a field
The other half will not let go
It simply will not yield
I pray for death to come my way
Each day on her behalf
But death can't see how much I miss
My beloved second half?
My passion sits beneath a stone
Where one day I will be
I can't be whole until I'm back
With the other half of me

Oh wow. I started reading this and didn't realize what it was saying until the third stanza. So, I went back to re-read it and my mouth just dropped. This is so beautiful. I mean I've never had an overwhelming feeling of tragdedy like I have reading this. I don't knwo how you did it. This deserves to win all the awards.

Powerful, I think we all have times when we feel this way, yet words are hard to find. You described the feeling perfectly.

Congratulations on your win with this write of painful loss of love! Wow, it is a very, very good poem of being ripped apart with such a loss. It certainly deserves the win, and is going in my favorite folder!!

In love, two become one and that one is the whole. This beautifully written poem begs the question of what happens when that whole is torn apart through death, leaving a part in life and a part beneath stone. Raw grief perfectly penned.

I love what you've done with this poem. It's meaningful, but you don't directly say that the other person is deceased. I love your use of words, and I think the line "My passion sits beneath a stone" is extremely resonating. Excellent work.
