When Sparrows Fall

When Sparrows Fall

A Poem by Whiskurz

Sparrows bleed as trumpets scream
They fall to kiss the earth
Crimson proof it's not a dream
For death has given birth

Darkness smiles with broken wings
A feathered wake of sorts
When death is born no one sings
For joy somehow distorts

Devils dance and act a fool
Just barely out of sight
Shadows watch and start to drool
While laughing at the light

Empty tears, for no one cares
It happens every day
Far away an angel stares
There's nothing left to say

Twisted fate, we don't ask why
For death will come to all
When death is born, we must die
As sparrows start to fall

I loved this Whiskurz! Besides all the normal needs of a good poem being well met (as usual with you) The poem is the kind that can probably be interpreted in many different ways by many different readers. It's dark, enigmatic, very intriguing. Very good writing and composition. A pleasure to read.

LOVE this! I have to say, reading this poem reminded me of Black Sabbath lyrics. In this dark, haunting poem you’ve captured a moment that weeps from the darkness…Brilliantly...

fabulous lines- front to back, start to finish, I can't help but be sad at the futility in this write, gorgeous write on the human condition subject to the fates in love, and living life etc. it's been too long since you've written something, but if you left us with one poem, this would be the one.

Like the rythm, it's simplicity and the topic! Well done

Dark and kind of sad, but certainly poetic, with some really good imagery. I enjoyed reading this poem. ~ Robert.
