Success

A poem inspired by my own novel

It is truly amazing
how everything you strive for
everything you ever
contemplated
or ever hoped of achieving
could be taken away with
a blink of an eye
It's not a surprise
nor a misfortune of
where I ended up
It's a road
many people tread
Paved with
promises of happiness
of health
of life
but so few
people don't
tug on the
threads the fates had spun
for them
and very few
don't muster enough courage to
start back at the fork
in the road
and make a logical
decision
on whether or not
to be the messenger
or kill the messenger
