AfterlifeA Poem by IzzyFind your light
In the darkest hours of the night
I can feel Death’s breath upon Soft and chilling with a hint of zest It taunts me Its low whispers slither into my ear Whilst the smell of decaying flesh suffocates me I can see the shadows Lurking from the corner of my eye Teardrops float from my eyes As the room began to enclose Black smoke curls up the walls Creeping towards my iced skin Death is coming for me But I fear naught Through the silhouette’s carcass A dim light shines within The light flickers erratically But never loses potency My heart drums a strew of pounds As the walls are engulfed in darkness I can’t run I can’t hide under my blanket But the light seems over powering It bursts through the thick clouds The snake supplied the apple But I had made my choice It’s a gamble at the most A fool’s game Sin’s temptation strikes at any glance But it is more important whom Not how I am me no one else I found my light Now time to find yours © 2010 IzzyAuthor's Note
