UNTITLED ONE

A Story by Lapierre
"

Question.

"

The dull bells pealed, breaking the silence of the night.  Everyone froze, fear lurched within in them.  They thought, "Could this bell be for me?"  They like to think that these things never happen, but they happen every night.  Standing in the streets like the crosses in Normandy, they remained silently sweating their fears.  Hoping, wishing, praying, begging, that it wasn't for them.

Somewhere in these city streets a woman cried out, "Oh, please not me!  Not now!  I have so much left to do, left to see!  Please, God, don't let them take me!"  The bells took her in, and put her behind doors, that she will never pass through again.

Where is your god now?
