sailboats

sailboats

A Poem by Lanky
"

I use the metaphor of sailing, check it out

"
And so i built a ship
with a hull of forgotten dreams
and a sail of shattered promises
that I gave a name of truth

Its not long until
I weigh anchor and set sail
away from this lonely place
this personal island of hell
My destination, yet unknown
my intentions, still in question
my madness, the only truth

the rough Seas of Sorrow
dash, bash, and toss
this vessel in every direction
as i alone fight through
the storms of self-doubt
yet when daylight breaks
and the storm subsides
bringing calm to the sea
and the clearing of the skies
I gaze out over the horizon
and see a new land
one of promise and hope

a twist of the large wheel
and a direction changed
steering myself to happiness
though now that i see the port
and the people lined up on the dock
I realize my ship was aptly named
"the last chance"
