GoodbyeA Poem by LThe smell of roses permeate my room But not in a good way. The luscious red faded into a dull brown Soft green hardened into grey - Death lingers in the air, its fingers grasping at me My hair, my hands, my breasts, my legs - Emptiness fills my lungs There’s an aching in my chest I’m out of breath; The smell of you kills the oxygen I need Invades my bloodstream It empties me You empty me. I sent you a quick text See you tomorrow, you said. But I can still smell the roses in the air Death in my room Crippling my senses. I can feel the goodbye before you are gone. © 2012 L |
