Reflection of Illusion

Reflection of Illusion

A Poem by Lane C

Guess the bird was stupid
For thinking it was actually singing
And the sun was shining

Stupid mind
To think it had found something real
Whisked away towards wanting to feel

Watch the bird fly into a window
Of a skyscraper
And burn like a fire
Against the pull of desire

Tricked by the wind
Tricked by the mind
Tricked by the certainty within

Watch the stupid bird soar into a sight
it thought was real
And crash it's dead weight
Used again and again as bait

Broken down by no more than an illusion
An illusion of bliss
Drawn on by a blue crayon
Instead of a blue sky

Trick
Trick
Trick

Fall
Fall
Fall

A trick and a fall

The mirror reflected it's naive skull
The knowledge hitting it like a bull
Spare my weakened limbs

Open soar
Wings wide
Too late
Fearless to find

Crashed and burned
Split of a second
Swallowed by the shame

Its trick and lie
Plummeting into tragedy
Shattered into oblivion
Deserving of this fate

This trick
With Earth it sticks
Just a stupid bird

A flight of clear direction
Killed by the reflection...
Of illusion
