The Clever Cat

Once I saw a bird, and I thought it rather fine
Till it hopped right down my arm, and then drank near all my wine.
I shoo'ed it with my hand, and it made a funny sound
But then I made a hoot, and it fell right to the ground.

Sitting on its rump, it looked quite a funny bird
Then it rolled onto its side, and then looked even more absurd.
As I started laughing, it gave me quite a glare
Indeed, it looked so frightening, that I shut my mouth right there.

As it hopped onto the window, and made a pompous caw
My cat, whose name is Oscar, hit it with his paw.
The bird shrieked in fright and flew away, out of reach
But my Oscar merely smiled, with a purr meant to beseech.

The bird was far too clever, and frowned down from afar
But my Oscar was contented, and purred just like a car.
I smiled then with glee as I settled in my chair
For the bird would not climb down, with such a cat sitting right there.

My goodness, you are freakin' cute!! lol I love this poem. I had written a few very serious poems, but when I tried my hand at "lighter" ones, such as this, I found them to be a lot of fun to write. So cute the story you tell, too.
