![]() SILENT PERFECTIONA Poem by Landy![]() A poem about the inner struggle most of us battle with when it comes to perfectionism.![]() Sheryl Sandbarg says,'Done is better than perfect'. 'Get it perfectly over with' I think to myself, Standing on life's theater stage, Where an observer gathers all my moves. These silent words that somehow make me carry on my scene. It's never been about the ending though, Neither the rewards or the awards, But the sheer pleasure of the words: 'You were perfect'. Like a time stamp all else ceases to exist, And suddenly, suddenly I can breathe again. It’s the same endless cycle, Everytime I promise myself to work on my short self-esteem, Take time to process, Learn to be normally tolerant, Tolerant of the few mistakes that end up creating inner distress. I highly value the freedom my creations provide, The peace it adds to my chaotic life, Yet the ghost of perfection Still finds a way to chain me, Chain me with the fear and the frustration that next time, Next time I should be better than the last time. As I stand on this theater stage, Perfection gathers my moves, Discerning every fault, To make me a laughing stock, Filling me with the self-jugement I so resent. It’s the same endless cycle, Everytime I promise myself to work on the imperfections, Learn to trust my colorful antics, Maybe leave this silent perfection for true, heartfelt passion. LANDRA.G.M
