![]() A song of despairA Poem by Landy![]() This poem portrays a desperate love which is a source of life and light, but can also be potentially overwhelming and dangerous. "Sun: someone who can both uplift and harm"![]() I walked by the river this morning, To catch the moonlight before it set. I walked by the river this morning, To write the song that kept me up all night. The sky was full of shooting stars, I sat by the edge, where fireflies danced. Lost in my own little world, You appeared before me, lilies in hand. You called to me from the water’s edge, Your light was so warm, so I followed. Alas, my life is now yours, Our spirits entwined, a song long sung. In this hollow world, I waited for you, Dreamed of your hands to pull me under. As the water rose, surrounding us, I felt both fire and ice in your embrace, The weight of the world burned away. I walked by the river this morning, Oh Sun to catch a glimse of you. It was a song of my despair, Searching for a spark to guide the day. Lost in my own little world, You appeared, a prayer answered. I joined you in the water's depth, The stars dimmed as we sank deeper. Now I have found you, at last. Dear Sun, you give and you take. I may lose breath or limb, But with you near, I will live a million lives. Oh let us dance to this song before our world ends, For this cold river will hold our memory forever. Landra.G.Mutoni
