It lays there,
battered and torn,
a smile on it's face,
the
paint is chipping off,
it is beginning to break and people will begin
to notice,
I have to paint over the cracks,
because they wont
heal,
the smile taints it's face almost wavering onto a grimace,
once
it must have been beautiful,
an ornate decoration,
now it has
been used too many times,
it lays there staring through unseeing
eyes,
where my eyes will fit,
it stares waiting to be picked up,
waiting to
be worn.
This to me, speaks of a person who has given up their old ways but still, from time to time faces temptation and wants to go back, but doesn't think they should, but the feeling of it would be so great, and they know it. This is greatly written, I love the brutal honesty of this piece, great write, thank you for sharing. :)

The Mask is fate's journey. The person is the glass filled with pain unseen, not yet ready to pour out it's liquid. The person sees the mask as the temporary relief to what people will surely come to understand...in due time. In this poem, I found the person looking at the mask is still debating on if she'll pick it up or not.
