What is it?

What is emotion? 

An unrelenting force, driving the whole of humanity?

The justification behind forbidden actions?

Yet another wall, semipermeable and intangible?

Is it separation from others?

A bond that binds everyone together?

Is it a punishment, able to drive spears through the heart?

Or maybe a boon, bringing comfort?

Does no one know?

Does everyone know?

What is emotion?

The end of something?

Or maybe the beginning?

Is it like the waves of the sea?

Completely treacherous, forever changing?

Sometimes calm and quiet, hiding dangers below?

Or maybe the sea itself?

Unending depth, and width?

Completely dark and cold?

Able to grant life, or to end it?

Maybe a fire?

Full of energy and heat?

Able to destroy?

Granting vision, in the darkest of times?

An unquenchable thirst?

Fueled by sacrifice?

A dangerous game?

Is it the Earth beneath our feet?

Moving slowly, it's inhabitants unaware?

Endlessly spinning,  possibly dizzying?

Full of life?

Oppressive and crushing?

Supportive and solid?

Weak and deceptive?

What is emotion?

Do you not know?

Why won't you answer?

You stare and dissect, are you unaware?

WHAT IS EMOTION?

WILL YOU NOT ANSWER?

IS IT DARKNESS, OR LIGHT?

A BOON OR A BANE?

LIFE OR DEATH?

Will you not answer?

Can you answer?

What is emotion?

Maybe it is an answer to all the questions.

Maybe it is a question for every answer.

Maybe it is dark, but it is also light.

Maybe it can grant life, but it is also death.

It is as deep as the sea, as warm as a fire, and as solid as the earth.

It is as treacherous as the sea, as all-consuming as a fire, and as unforgiving as the earth.

So, I ask, what is emotion?

A double-edged sword, forged from iron of the earth, tempered in fire and water.

Unyielding, unforgiving.

Protective, fluid.

Able to reach the hearts of others.

Able to pierce the hearts of others.

A boon, and a bane;

I hope it never wanes.

I see emotion as an a pit on our soul and it's up to us to fill it with positivity instead of a negative force.

Thank you! I am a certified sociopath, so I have trouble with emotions in general. I was trying to explain my struggle.
