Shadow Secret

This poem speaks about how if our shadows could speak... what truths about ourselves would they be able to reveal. Or have we been a person of honesty integrity and it's already been done.

Like a child mimicking my every step

It walks with me

Never am I alone

Privately investigating it stalks my every move

Documenting details

I fear blackmails inevitability

 

A silent witness

This shadow stands aside acts unseen by blinking eyes

My secrets guardian

This silenced voice bares testimony to veiled character

The notoriety of truth

Enveloped upon cursive letters folded with a waxy seal

 

If it were capable of speech

Its accountability would rewrite the pages of history

 

When I’m in need of a moral compass

My outlined figurine

A needled silhouette points in a direction opposite my guiding light

 

This third party view knows me better than I know myself

Suspiciously trustworthy

I delicately walk around its ability to crush my life

But like an unsworn oath I have faith in a conversation we never spoke

So I walk unscathed

Chest out

Shoulders back

I walk brave

This really is a different view of being more, more than what's seen day in, day out; the thought of the shadow as being such a vital extra to and in one's life .. incredible thought and finely written. Shadows are the neatest parts of ourselves. You just don't know where it will pop up sometimes though...depending it can ease your way through spaces by going first..or let you know what time of day it is by which side of you it stands on...sometimes it is even our hero, being larger than life and having only the outline of our shape, it can scare the pants off somebody who is caught off guard. One thing that is certain is that one is never alone really...because your shadow is always at your side. I loved this poem you created..all the ways to view your shadow and the meanings behind each one.. :)
