Unspoken Heroes

Unspoken Heroes

A Poem by Lalli
"

Too often do we judge someone by their occupation... Instead of being A PERSON, with layers of personality and emotions. This poem is a tribute to all the unspoken heroes the overlooked n mistreated

"

Like ghosts, we move invisibly amidst the masses

Operating within a medium unseen

Disguised as Clark Kent’s with superman’s ‘S’ on our chest

We move from comic book to comic book

Our imaginations are more conductive than lightning storms

No shape, with any closed walls will hold our power

Because even if our bodies are trapped inside, our minds think outside the lines

There’s no limit

Incandescent blue skies will never be our ceiling

There are walls posing as façade

Built to protect a damaged heart

You see solidity, we see transparency

We walk through

Because these insufficient boundaries cannot be recognized

Our hands knead your ventricles with healing

Massaging fingers break you down to build you stronger

Our caring arms generate strength wrapped with a squeeze

Forcing drops of smiles into your morning juice

We are the chef to your breakfast

The servant who delivers your food

We are the preparation to your important documents

The banker to your finances

The driver of your transportation

The street sweeper, to the sewage plumber

We are everywhere in everything from the neighbor on your street

To the fisherman you’ll never meet

Employed by definition but not defined by our occupation

Too often classified by our jobs, we live in segregation

Like ghosts, we move invisibly amidst the masses

Incapable of recognition since our depth as a person escapes your vision

Your eyes, move with haste topographic scans too quick to see layers

Like the sediment beneath the tattoos you judge

When we are community volunteers donating time and energy for the sake of love

We are poets with sentimental words brought to life

Mothers, whose lives they sacrificed

Children, fighting to find themselves

We are Refugee’s, with scarred hearts of genocide

Immigrants, crossing boundaries on a quest for freedom

Drug addicts, who now object to phrases like “but…this is a healthy addiction”

We are the beauty of imperfection

We are people

Naturally diverse, dispersed amongst the world

So next time you try to define me as

The Valet who parks you’re car

Know that I am a conqueror, who overcame wheelchairs and retaught himself to walk four times

I am a brother, uncle, nephew, and son blessed with a family of unconditional love

I am a role model, recognizing that my status as an adult comes with the watchful eyes of our youth

A warrior, who slays negative energy with calculated moves instead of impulsive reaction

I am a visionary, with ideas of innovation

A messenger, a vessel for my gift of poetry

I am an artist that uses carefully sculpted sentences to invigorate inspiration

Introspection

To think intellectually within yourselves

Because you are not JUST a person

You are the attributes of character built from you’re experiences

And I respect and acknowledge you for you,

A human being with layers of personalities and emotions waiting to be discovered

This is a super poem! It speaks of the many layers to a person’s life. There is the conqueror of hard times, and the one that loves people in spite of their own problem. Your poem says it all. I am thoroughly impressed with your writing skill and sensitivity to truth.

But if you call the number now, it will tell you how long until the show , your time. ---- LET ME KNOW !!!! They love new readers! --
