Jade Row

Jade Row

A Poem by Lalli

Jade Row

By: Lalli

A relationship off to a jaded start throws a dart headed to bulls-eye the end game

A jaded stone is not appealing to the eye

A jaded soul appears as the apple no one likes

No one wants a taste of bitterness

The retched sour twist of a spiteful heart

So when you are losing hope

Remember your dreams

Those dreams of happily ever-afters

Dreams of waking up every morning with a lover’s sight

Staring into your lover’s eyes and smiling even though their breathe is foul

Dreams of watching the miracle of child birth and the innocence of its essence

Remember your dreams

of being able to share these dreams with your children

Because when the pain of a love goes south

Have faith that you’re coming closer to those dreams as you’re pointed in a new direction

And although there is no instrument of guidance for a lost romantic

They trek through territory uncharted

Without a map they follow their heart

They walk through desolate lands that wilt a lover scorned like the tropical flower in a desert heat

But they keep on--pressing on as they head towards a new beginning

They are the few who’ve managed to move beyond the path of a damaged past

Where scars from burned hearts are turned outwardly beautiful

But inward reconstruction is shown for the world to see, blemish free

They have emerged out of the pitch black of their lonely nights

Victorious over the screeches of their inner demons

They have conquered the fear of insecurity

Now walking the tight rope of confidence no longer afraid of falling

because they believe that if they do

Then the strength gained from hard times prepares them to handle even tougher ones

If our inner-being had hands

Then there’s no way they could be callous free

Since overcoming a jaded heart

Is like reaching for razor-sharp rocks using them for grip to climb out of the depths of hell

Only to find out that the key to their freedom was held by themselves

Declared as a moment of self-realization

That we alone have the power to control the manifestations of our mind

To change our surroundings and our perception of them

We can polish that jaded stone into a smooth refined finish

Free the diamond, from the coal

We can take that apple bitter taste and make it sweet and flavorful

So be prepared to lick those lips in delight

Because you just took the unappealing and made it desirable

You put that jaded soul on death row with a lethal injection

Feathered wings rip flesh spawning its angelic resurrection

Tainted

But pure

You’ve opened up the door to a future of living your dreams

And the possibilities of living beyond them

Instead of watching a jaded heart dart straight to bulls-eye the end game
