He is a shape-shifter

The adapter into the crafty origami

Intellectually wealthy as the holy Dalai-llama

The Master of Zen, calming situations beyond comfortable tension

 

He can put a disturbed heart to rest

He can smooth the corners of a square into a circle

And with a single touch

He can gain a strangers trust familiarizing them as his friend

 

He is a shape-shifter who can fit lemons through a lime squeeze

He can reconcile painful memories into cherished moments

And shrug a thug into a child of innocence

 

He is a changeling that blends with its surroundings

He is the concord chameleon of attitude

Transforming animosity into tranquility

And tranquility into consensus

 

At a moments notice “he” can turn into a “she”

Then “she” can turn into a “thing” which then can turn into “nothing”

He conforms to the unknown as it’s thrown towards his direction

Articulating the good and the bad into orchestrated harmony

 

"He" is the power of confidence,

Confidence in yourself

Confidence in what the mind can conceive and believe it can achieve…

He is the confidence that makes no obstacle too big

No dispute, Irreconcilable

And no situation too awkward

Because he is certain that his aim will hit his mark without failure

But he knows

That sometimes he must fail in order to succeed

Since confidence can be humbled by truth

The truth of knowing that the need to adapt can only be realized

After the shape-shifter dies

So that he can be resurrected and live to try again

Sorry it took me so long to review this. Been here and gone and now I'm back. For some reason, I'm way off with the other reviewers, I saw God in this - which seems strange for me to come up with since I'm not a religious person. I thought that since there was talk of peace and tranquility, being thrown in a certain direction and being ressurected to live again that maybe it was an angel or an act of God. I don't even know what I'm saying anymore. haha. Nice work though!

This really made me think about politics and, in turn, made your shape-shifter stand out as a politician (to me, anyway). Politicians change, bend, and morph in order to appeal to specific groups and voters despite personal opinions. I could be totally oversimplifying, but that's what your poem has brought to my mind tonight. Good stuff, Lalli. Thanks for sharing!

I love this! It's such a creative, deep piece.
It makes us think...are we this shape-shifter, and who
can be trusted.

This shap-shifter so perfect, but always mimicking
someone or something else, but does he/she even know
who they are, could they live a life as themselves and not as
fakes.

This is very insightful and makes one think.
At then end when it says being ressurected, and
living to try again, well, sadly, I don't think it was
meant to be.
