In China they kill babies!

It’s their form of population control

The People’s Republic of China calls it “The One Child Policy”

Only one baby per family or they’ll be slaughtered without mercy

 

Ok

They don’t officially kill babies

It’s only by scrutinized speculation that such accusations are made

But they do have a “One Child Policy”

Recognizing the need to decrease the rate of the over-populated Chinese

 

Population control

Is not in the too far off distant future

A worldwide problem that will have to be addressed

It’s the next logical step

If we do simple math

The human population has grown nearly ten-fold over the past three hundred years and has increased by a factor of four in the last century

Yet, we aren’t dying any quicker

In fact people are living longer while babies are poppin’ out at a faster rate than a virgin teenager’s premature ejaculation

So thank god it happened before the sex

Because do you think he’s ready to be a dad?

Being that its one of the most influential actions a person can make

The responsibility of bringing life into this world

Maybe we should have a license for parenthood

Since we already are required to have a Drivers license

Hunting license

Bartending license

Maybe we should have a drinking license too

For all those out of control drunks who can’t hold their liquor

Marriage license

Hell there's all kinds of licenses

I mean its simply a suggestion

But why should we not have a license determining who would be fit for parents?

Since it could help to eliminate the devastating pain of having a dead beat dad

A sad excuse for an abusive father

Instead of allowing a no good for a mother who doesn’t care

A self-inflicted drug addict in despair drowning her miseries with downers raise a child?...

why shouldn't we?...

So we can have another mentally traumatized kid lashing out against society for their more than disturbingly outrageous upbringing

Ever seen the movie Gone Baby Gone?

Because before long that child will become a product of their environment who was never given a real chance

Because daddy was never around and mommy kept talkin’ to the lamp

 

If we continue down this dead end path,

There will not only be the extinction of the human race

But we will end up murdering the one mother who deserves recognition in honor of our appreciation

With the words “mother of the millennium” scripted upon her trophy

The award goes too… the one and only…Mother Earth

Since she has always sacrificed to provide for her children

And she's never asked of anything in return

So out of respect for ourselves and for her

In an attempt not to over populate our planet lets try to quit reproducing quicker than rabbits

Providing our children with the opportunity to actually have the future, they deserve

Instead of a life filled with the turmoil of overcoming deep seeded issues

All because we had a moral dilemma with having an abortion

But never saw a moral dilemma with the consequences of pre-martial sex

Or maybe, we’ll never accept responsibility

And we’ll carelessly keep lettin’ just anybody have a baby

Funny I should be reading this, I was actually wondering when other countries may enforce some kind of law about like they do in China. It's kind of sad, but its an issue because there's not a whole lot of space to humanity anymore. Great write!

I have been saying the same thing for years. If you have to have a license to drive you should have one to have children. I also think that we should have mandatory parenting classes. The population is quite out of control and if we stopped our young girls from having babies it would drop the population by a good percentage. I think they should have mandatory birth control for girls until they are deemed fit for parenting. It may seem extreme but it would honestly help I think. Its the plan I plan to use with my daughter. Good rant.

Thank you good sir. Seriously? Truth right there. I would love a freaking parent license. But somedays, I feel like people grow into the roles that they aren't initially meant for. I guess does that make sense? The fact that the deadbeat teen boy and girl have a kid is sad, to be sure, but God can work through that situation even more. (this is rare, I understand) I feel like change is possible, even when feeling that. But this is all just a side note to the main thing. People need to think before freaking doing it! And I agree.

I love how you started with China and their situation. It gives a hard edge to the beginning of the poem, setting the tone almost immediately. Awesome tatic. I appreciate at the end, how you put mother earth in there, giving us another reason to not over populate (beside the fact that some people are deadbeat parents) if not for you or your future kid, do it for the earth. It gives another cause. I like it

Absolutely...but at the same time I would hate for there to be a stricture put on what we have the freedom to do or not to do. Each time we put something like this to law (a personal choice matter) there is always that fool who feels they can decide the guidelines according to what will benefit them the best. Great work.

You address this issue with knowledge of the human condition, Lalli. I wonder if this problem will ever truly be solved, especially in the US where our freedom is held in highest regard. Some abuse its intent and you are correct, copulate like bunnies devoid of responsibility for their actions. I witness this all the time... Unable to provide for themselves yet...'I'm pregnant again'.... It's quite sad...

I love this poem and you are so damn right! We should have a license
for parenting, but would that help, I doubt it...because there are
those that get married, drive, and even hunt that should be nowhere
near a gun, or have any reason to marry, or drive on the street to
cause more deaths. Here I am being all philosophical LOL!! People
just don't care, and yes we are destroying Mother Earth with our greedy
temptations of life. This was a very good read. AD

Ive read where in China they do kill babies, its been known for years that female babies are basically worthless in China so they are killed or given up for adoption, i think your poem makes some good points and is well written........

WoW, yea u do make some pretty good points here. It truly is way too overpopulated in this world. And these kids and young adults are having babies at such a young age, because they dont think. It's not about what nationality u are, religion, or custom u have, it's all about common sense, really. Great poem!
