If I ask you a few questions, will you give me excuses?

EXCUSES
By: Lalli

What if I told you…
You could do anything you dreamed?
Because you can!
I won’t say it’ll be easy but it can be achieved

What if I told you…
You could obtain inner peace?
Because you can!
Believe in your self and your heart will be eased

What if I told you…
You could have the strength to be bold?
Because you can!
Eliminate cowardly thoughts replacing them with self confidence and your courage will grow

What if I told you that our biggest problems are trivial?
Would you laugh in my face and tell me I didn’t know?
Would you claim that I have no clue
With the boastful attitude of, “Fool, you don’t know what I’ve been through!”?

But what if I told you…

You were right?

Would you keep defensively attacking with me as your target in sight?
Or would you realize that I’m not pointing fingers in this one sided fight
That by stating your right
I’m in agreement that I have no clue
But I’m not tryin’ to judge you and I’m definitely not trying to argue with you too
My hands
Are not held up in front of my chest
They are not
Clinched tight in a boxer’s position
They are moving around in front of me because I speak with them
As I state the truth

So what If told you
It’s all minimal compared to the monumental size to the scheme of this life
Would you keep a closed mind convinced I’m still trying to fight
Or would you realize that I had just given you a clue
That there’s a reason behind the madness of this positive attitude

What if I told you…
Misery loves company?
Would you say sarcastically aggressive to tell you something new,
To quit wasting your precious time,
That you have better things to do than hear old cliché’s that you already knew?

But what if I told you

That’s exactly my point

Would you stop bitchin’ for a second because now you’re confused?
Would you want to listen for a second curious to what it is I’m tryin’ to prove?
Because what I’m tryin’ to tell you is…
Life, is too short
Time, is precious
It is one of the only certainties that’s guaranteed in this world
Since it will always come and go
But it can never be replaced
We can never truly make up for lost time
So why would we want to waste it being lazy?
Complacent with thoughts that we dream to big
Why would we want to waste it being mentally angry and weak?
Why would we want to waste it conforming from the worry of what other people think?
Why would we want to waste it spending the majority of our time with misery?
From focusing on nothing but negativity
Why would we do this…?
When we should be happy that we are lucky enough to even be alive!
So why…
Let obstacles stop us from achieving our dreams?
Why let the pain of inner struggle consume our minds?
Why let mental strength be absent from our lives?
And why…
Worry about the problems of yesterday?
When we should fix our troubles of today and start thinking ahead
Planning our steps for the future

So what if I told you that the only thing stopping you
Is you
And your excuses

I totally agree with you on this....anything is possible if you set your mind to it. my life has been a series of changes for several months now and i believe that if you want something with all your heart and mind, you can make it happen. a person should always reassess the way they live their lives... if something needs to be changed, change it. being closed minded and unwilling to do anything about what their lives have become is no one's fault but their own, making excuses why it won't work for them.

i for one, have embraced change and and look forward at times to see what the world will bring.

thanks for sharing your thoughts on this and i hope that anyone that reads this gets he message.

Alway,

Amanda

I really enjoyed this writing from you. I could feel passion in it and it was full of everything that a poem is made of. It had great flow. And as I read each line, it was like the poem was just speaking to me. And, everything in this poem is true. We shoud follow our dreams and yes, there will be obsticles that we will have to overcome, but that is part of the journey that we take when we want to make our dreams come true. This poem is just a wonderful and amazing piece. I enjoyed every line and word.

As a member of the human race, and as the author of my own life story, I feel it's important to impress upon your feeble mind the importance of my existance and that my problems, despite your own, are far too large to be dealt with by any other means than through the cliche channels of acceptance so that other may look at me with the dignity and respect that I deserve.

I'm also incredibly sarcastic, and love reading anything you produce.

Time and time again, I'm constantly impressed and am a fan of your spoken word off/slant rhymes. It truly makes the piece awesome to read, and, I'd imagine, even more of a joy to hear. I wish I could say more about this piece, but you spell it out so nicely (and with good witty tone I might add) that it makes anyone who'd say anything negative about the statement you're trying to make think twice before opening their mouths.

Snaps fingers.
I dig it.

Ahhh... another in depth read that is making me struggle to contain myself
from spilling a novel.... lol
that's been happening a lot lately!! What's really going on?? LOL

Okay, I'm going to try and keep it short and sweet...

You're 100% correct. All the way around! This is awesome and I am
so glad you wrote and shared it. Of course that is just my opinion... but
to me, my opinion means the world! :):)

In a nutshell....
'Whether you think you can or you think you can't, you're right.'

I realize that there is much more to it than that...... or is there? ;)

Insightful, inspiring, brilliant writing... thank you for sharing!!

Highly inspirational piece, Lalli. But you are so on target as the only thing that stops us is us. As long as our goals are realistic, it becomes amazing what horizons await us to embrace them... Oh, Time; he can be a b*****d, eh? I guess it's all a question of strategy...what do we want....really...in terms of motivation, and therefore, lack of excuses. Thank you for posting this.

Yesterday is gone...it will always be gone...and can no longer actively inflict pain. Tomorrow never comes and is always one step out of reach. All we have is today. Staying mindful of and in the moment is the key. Yes, we can do anything we set our minds to do. ANYTHING. There is a story of a little boy who built sand castles in the sky. They stood, in mid-air, magnificent and beautiful...until one day an old man came by and told the little boy that it was impossible to build sand castles in the sky...and the castles fell...never to be built again. The power of suggestion is incredibly strong...however, it is when we find that no matter what others say, or think, or even do they do not have the power to change what I say, think, and do, that we truly become powerful within ourselves. Realizing that we cannot control the actions of others brings freedom unmatched by anything in the universe because we begin to concentrate on the things that we can control within ourselves ... behaviors, thoughts, feelings....and then what I change within myself forces everything around me to change...there is no choice. When growth happens, it forces the air to move...when the air moves, everything moves with it.

Beautiful and 100% true. I enjoyed reading this, and you make an excellent point, and suppling motivation. For some it is easier to identify with the dwelling and hope that someone else will make our problems go away, when really we have to help ourself before any one will help us. Thanks for writing this! Great work, as always!

I love this piece so much. It was written with tremendous amount of wisdom and insight! These words are so true and life is so full of possibilities if you just have the courage to try. I think I love that message the most in this piece. Life really is very short to waste time on all the things you wrote about here'; anger, worry, misery. All negative emotions though necessary at times, should never be one's focus in life. and that is when the courage you speak about needs to step in so to speak. An absolutely brilliant write!!! I loved it!!!

Humm well I just have to say that this was a touch of brilliants! And yes it really makes you think but your good at that in your poetry! i have to say that I feel you are one in a million. To finally finding your gift and hobby. I'm very proud on how far you have come. Never giving up. That takes a lot. So this part that I was talking about last night after (thank for reading foam!!) Your lil s**t. haha. Ya so I loved the part where you said:

What if I told you
You could have the strength to be bold?
Because you can!
Eliminate cowardly thoughts replacing them with self confidence and your courage will grow (Loved this part)

What if I told you that our biggest problems are trivial?
Would you laugh in my face and tell me I didn't know?
Would you claim that I have no clue
With the boastful attitude of, "Fool, you don't know what I've been through!"? (that was once again.Snap..Snap fingers)

I found this piece to make people realize that theres more then meets the eye. I've notice that sometimes I don't really try to get to know the person because of my own inner trust issues in myself. So basic I'm making excuse to not get hurt, but how low. Them I never give that person a chance. We sit here placing different ecxuse. Trying to blow them off. When we just need to tell the truth! I and everyone else can feel where you are going with this! but you still make us ask where is he going to go with this and how far!?

I notice that when you read this n posted so I could read it too. I see it no different. Knowing that I make excuse all the time! And I can't say I'm very proud of myself for that because I'm not. So thank you for writing on how we need to stand up and know that we can achieved our goals. Improve our life and stop making excuses when people see right through them! Loved it sweetie! So proud of you once again, This was brilliantly written from the heart!

With much love,
Anna
