Religions a Fraud

Religions a Fraud

ummm.. its about religion hahaha

Religion’s a Fraud

I write to try to identify with you,

From experiences of my lifes hardships

That taught me wrong from right,

Shining bright as my radiant light

When surrounded by darkness

Which it seems is just about all the time

This is why I have a firm belief

That I am a child of god

Which is odd…

Considering at first

I was cynically skeptical and felt that religion

Was the first form of fraud

What turns a person to believing in a higher power?

Is it a sense of comfortability

From their uncertainty of the unknown

Or a sense of security

In a world troubled and alone?

Is it an explanation?

A projection

For when we reap what we’ve sown

Or a possible escape

For those who feel their life

Is misery prone?

Could it be a sought out answer to the complexities

From the sophistication of life caused naturally

And how the hell

Can a person faithfully believe

So attimately in a power unseen?

I always said it would take a miracle

An enlightening experience

From an oracle

Where there’s an undeniable

Inevitability to what’s been told

So let me give my explanation, my perception

To one of the worlds longest existing deceptions and why I feel there’s no exception

Now this wasn’t the course I first chose

But rather forced

To more church camps and retreats

Then is countable on 4 pairs of hands

I’ve witnessed divine intervention

I denied when it happened

Searching for explanations and was stuck rationalizing

With statements like…

The power of the mind

We’ve yet to understand

Or it could have been faked

While I tried to expose their devious plans

For example

I’ve seen with my own eyes

Religious corruption,

Spiritual eruption and miraculous life interruption

All simply from the interpretation

Of the Word’s instruction

Down to youth pastor predators

To the rendering hearts tender

of hardened prideful gang members

I’ve experienced the unexplainable of the spiritual realm

An unmistakable photograph of a ghost child

Starring through the T.V.

Lookin' at my friend’s sister

I watched a remarkable

Unquestionable true haunting

Where mattresses breathe

Incorporated heart beats in a desperate need of an exorcism

From a catholic priest

Among all the extraordinary

Take a glance at the every day ordinary

Look closely

Observe intently

You’ll notice that nothing happens coincidentally

Everything is connected

From poor decisions made

To the events leading to a glorious day

Suggesting in reality

There’s no superficiality to the concept of fate

There’s a definite paranormal existence

Having felt its persistence

I fought with resistance, and failed

From my own limited humanistic restrictions

It was an overwhelming power

The eye-opening splash of a cold shower

Making me realize that

Religion may be a fraud

Secretly hiding the intentions of being a business…

But God isn’t!

Despite the fact that we’ve never seen him

Or that he watches from a distance

And if you doubt me

I suggest looking closer

At the phenomenal fact that we’re livin' and breathin'

Then hopefully you too will appreciate…

What’s been given

I wrote this poem a few months ago posted it as a recordingon my myspace page, and shortly after something i never dreamed came from this piece. I recieved an E-mail from a local fellow poet, about how he was struggling with christianity, and aethism. That my words, providing clarity on his internal confliction(really gods conviction), i was taken back and knew at that moment this poem needed to be shared...This poem is also a part of my poetry book, "Profound Simplicity" 39 poems, 85 pages..

It takes a very strong person to express such convictions as yours in a society that isn't eagerly willing to except such things. I applaud you for being so brave.
I like how there are some rhymes tossed into this piece even though it is in free flow form, kinda adds a punch to the point of the story you are telling.

The title drew me. That statement is embedded in my head somewhere, so I was happy to click on it.
I can't say anything about your wordplay that I already haven't, but it was extra smooth here and I can see
it put to music as 16 bars! Very smooth write......

You hit on some interesting points, and the set up was good, but I feel like when you got to talking about religion, you let it off a little easy, especially with the set-up being just as long. I agree with all you said, but I would've liked for you to go a little harder. Your subject and stance on it is very controversial, so I would love to see you go SUPER hard! Catholic priest, the enormous amounts of money, cult leaders leading to deaths and sex with the followers, all these different things I was hoping to hear. You went at em, but I would've love for you to go EXTRA hard at em!

I did enjoy the piece though Lalli, I don't want you to get the wrong idea. And I completely understand what you're saying. Maybe I'm just in a angry mood and I need to lash out at a pastor or something!

Great write man.......

Powerful and depthfully invented Jason, I would start with the paranormal aspect you entwined in the meaning, its a great reminder that life itelf is a mystery and that to behold the mystery in respect and be willing to be open to the probabilities that

anything is possible, to not limit the heart to what is by way of senses physically limited, to think it possible that there just might be something other than what man percieves as reality is the only way to gain a sense of awareness in my opion, it's

by exploring these avenues that the heart becomes in tune with wisdom, very nice job
at conveying and convincing the reader, as well as being an encouraging messege
that examines the possibilities of the unknown, I really enjoyed reading this, thanks

From your note I see you have experienced the power of holding a light, stating the truth you perceive. In the end all we have is the truth of our words. When the words are true others can be guided by them and find the truth they perceive.

I am glad to have found your writing.

This is unique, because it states points that a person could debate for hours.
You're mastered and answered the questions, giving reasons why people could debate back, but in the end, going to the core of the matter... The place where almost everyone can agree. I find it very genius. You're not just a writer, for anyone can scribble down words, you're much better than that. You're a natural writer. I give you big props for this piece. And, you have pulled me into being a fan, not just a friend on your page. Great job.

This is a WONDERFUL, poem! I can agree with you 100%. I am not caltholic, but have come from the LDS religion. You have some excellent and true points. Disscussion of religion is a typical conversational topic. I am glad you shared this poem, and hope more will read it too.
