Dark RetreatA Poem by Beth ElainaI love going for walks at night during the wintertime. It's so deliciously cold...
Arms of darkness pull me close
Whispering
“You aren’t alone”
Waves of icy wind arise
Numbing me
With soothing sighs
An eb’ny rose, frosted white
Mirrors the sky
Black silk, starlight
A lovely image, nothing more
Reflecting life
With an empty core
Like the rose, I’m frozen, still.
I find peace
In winter’s chill
No flame of passion, no wrathful heat
Can interrupt
My dark retreat
