Sharing a Cup With You

Sharing a Cup With You

A Poem by Lafoot

"Sharing a Cup with You."
by Christopher Laffitte

We are the confection a gratis of sort,
A mixture of souls to accompany the brew.
Is the taste of proclivity what brought us together?
We sip blindly toward barriers we already knew.
One hand is perked up to toast the unknown,
The other touches yours to elucidate.
A few moments to savor a mellow joy,
If time was a flavor then taste I abate.
It must be panacea that’s feeling my lips,
An endless contrivance for each that deals.
If tomorrow is torn from the pages of karma,
Then finality is met with the peerless of meals.
It is truly a phoenix that warms up my body,
Perfection from something created with plume.
Understanding the craving allows us the patience
To deal with uncertainty, an impending doom.
Forsaken we are not for goodbye is a gesture.
Empty glasses are not hearts, they are only a tool.
I wait for the moment I can pour you a lifetime
And know that my own will finally be full...of love
.
