Leave Me!

Leave Me!

A Chapter by Lafayette

Sixty five flights up to the Rain Bow Room

He stood in the dark empty craven’s of the ballroom

Looking out down at her hotel

Moment before she had told him - Leave Me

He looked out over the deserted streets and noticed

His reflection was looked back him " He was alone

He knew everything would be different now

Notating could ever be the same - When she left

He was sure he would never see the colors of the morning sky, and this darkness that now surrounded him would last

Long pest her words " This darkness would tight its grip

“Step out over the ledge” " just fall

Fall the way you fell for her " His mind was yelling

He stepped closer to the two story windows

He was well aware " he had no will

He could not control this emotion

It was attacking his being, and he was defenseless

So close " so very close to love

All changed in a moment

Had he said - he thought " What?

What words could he put together

What words would reach her heart - To let her know

He found only the deafening silence answering him

Like the streets below " His heart was now empty

But he knew soon on the streets below there would be nineteen million people

He still had an overwhelming feeling of being alone

Her words swam from one thought to another

As over the East River - suns approach beckon

He step forward and let the night engulf him

Lafayette.
