Escarpment

Escarpment

A Chapter by Lafayette

There was once a Tigress

That lived in a treeless jungle

She walked over and under

Hard and soft

Tall and submerge

Dark hardly ever light

She looked and looked behind each mountain

She knew she wasn’t the only one

A thousand years till set free

A thousand years ago, she was alone same as now

Higher and higher all around she searched and searched

Down and down the spiral walls, light to dark

She went deeper and deeper till she couldn’t go back

Couldn’t turn around, darker and darker

She saw the sun’s light go out.

The steel raises a thousand miles off in the distance

Higher than the mountains of the Pink jungle

A tear hit the ground, she pressed on alone the timeless sand.

There was once a Tiger

Alone in the forest, the long walk home had to begin

The thrust grows the fresh water brown green

Silver waterfalls, now black, here where man now walks

Later tall ships sailed, with the King of the wild frontier

With the Queen of the under lands

There was once a Tiger

Who found a mate at the gates of forever

There was once a Tiger
