Bad Habits

Bad Habits

A Poem by Lady Pearl
"

a comparison between two bad habits of different nature but having similar effects

"
Black smoke fills my lungs
The flaming red comes closer to my lips
With every breath I feel death coming closer
There's something satisfying about that thought...
The next cigarette is more satisfying
Than the one before
By my third I begin to cough
I turn it out and say "Now I quit"
An hour later I'm outside lighting another
And suddenly this process seems familiar
I compare it to you
Another one of my addictions
A bad habit I keep coming back to
Slowly killing me
Nothing satisfying about that thought
An hour later I find myself calling you
We hang up and I have this choking feeling
in my throat
I decide that now I am done
A week later I am by your side once more...

Addictions are like that..bad for our health and so difficult to shake.. I could relate to this piece .. well done..

Comparision seems very apt. An addiction of smoking and longing to be with a person.
