Family Ties

Underneath the moon she stands guarding her domain
Her howling cry resonates around the blue misty skies
Soothing as a mothers voice as she sings a lullaby

Words can not describe the beauty that surrounds her
Like the flowers in the orchid she is gentle and kind
Protecting you from your fears so that dreams may rise

In her embrace she keeps you warm from icy winds
As a female wolf to her cubs, she handles trouble with poise and grace
She doesn’t have to say I love you, it’s in her eyes and expressions

A special bond was formed between us
Let it carry on till the ends of time

I remember this write, and I concur with the below comment, it is very worthy of the gold.
I love the family connection written into this piece. The protectiveness of 'Mother', exactly how nature intended. Nothing should harm her young, lest they wish to meet their Maker.
