Same Old Obsession

Lord Andrew Charles Howard is obsessed with Karissa Elizabeth Ann Lowell.

Lady Patricia Howard nee Stuart had a garden at Norfolk Estate. It was a present to her from Lord Charles Andrew Howard JR when they married in 2228.

Lady Patricia tried to teach her sons and daughters the beauty of the garden, but only her daughters picked up the secret of the beauty of the garden.

Lord Andrew Charles Howard looked at his mother and asked "Mother, is your garden door open?"

Lady Patricia looks at her youngest son and she replies, " Yes, Lord Andrew Charles. The garden door is always open."

"What is the secret of the garden, mother?" Lord Andrew Charles asks.

"My son. I will try to explain. The secret is that a garden gives you peace of mind, and you can reflect on it's beauty." Lady Patricia tells Lord Andrew Charles.

"Within the garden. You will find tranquility and time to reflect." Lady Patricia tells her son.

"You know mother. Karissa told me that there is a song for every mood we are experiencing." Lord Andrew Charles tells his mother.

"My son. I am sure there is music for every mood. I am only accustomed to Classical music. Frederic Chopin wrote a concerto about Spring. I am pretty sure it told how he felt about gardens, flowers, romance, when he wrote it. He may have written it for George Sands." Lady Patricia tells him.

"I know that the French composer, Claude Debussy wrote a piece called Claire De Lune." Lady Patricia tells Lord Andrew Charles.

Lord Andrew Charles looks at his mother and he asks "What do you do when you are in love with a young woman and she doesn't even notice you mom. She just wants a platonic friendship?"

"Lord Andrew Charles. I guess you have to abide your time and wait. Patience is a virtue. Your father told me that the young woman you love is Karissa Elizabeth Ann Lowell, but she gave the same type of friendship to your second cousin, Lord Richard William Carey." Lady Patricia states.

"Lord Andrew Charles. You can not make a woman love you. It has to come naturally or else it will fail. Look at your father and mine marriage. We had children but we were forced into the marriage as it was pre-arranged between your grandfather and my father who is your maternal grandfather." Lady Patricia tells him.

"Look at Lord Charles Andrew III and Lord Patrick William. They have been married for a number of years and they have no children." Lady Patricia tells him.

"I pleaded with your father to allow your brothers to marry for love, but he wouldn't agree to it either." Lady Patricia tells him.

"I think you have to accept the terms that she is offering." Lady Patricia explains, "Conduct yourself like a gentleman."

Lord Andrew Charles looks at his mother and says, " I think I will go out into the garden mom."

"I think that is a very good idea, Lord Andrew Charles. Why do you have the cook make you lunch, take a book, and spend the day in the garden." Lady Patricia tells her son.

Lord Andrew Charles goes into the kitchen and he asks the cook to make him lunch in a basket and she smiles and asks "What do you want in the basket?"

"I would love some of your wonderful chicken, biscuits, butter, honey and some vegetables." Lord Andrew Charles tells the cook.

The Cook prepares Lord Andrew Charles a basket and gives him a thermos of sweet tea to take with him out in the garden and he thanks the cook and takes the basket and with his favorite novel " Gulliver's Travel'' that he carries under his arm. He heads for the garden at Norfolk Estate.

There is a song by Gordon Lightfoot "Same Old Obsession " that reflects his mood.

Lord Andrew Charles walks into his mother's garden out at Norfolk Estate and he sees the French provincial couch out in the garden.

He walks over to it and sits down and places the basket on the couch and he takes out his novel and he starts to read it.

Lord Andrew Charles can't get Karissa out of his mind and he wonders what she is doing and if Lord Richard William Carey is with her.

Karissa gave Lord Richard William Carey the same terms as she gave Lord Andrew Charles and she made it very clear that she only wanted a platonic friendship with Lord Richard William Carey as well as to Lt. Kevin Thomas Riley.

Lord Andrew Charles wonders what Lt. Kevin Thomas Riley is feeling. At one point in time they were friends when he attended Star Fleet Academy.

Some came between them after he returned from Talos IV and he introduced Karissa Elizabeth Ann Lowell to his second cousin, Lord Richard William Carey.

Lt Kevin Thomas Riley had suffered the loss of his entire family on Talos IV by Kudos the governor who tried to play god.

Kudos could have learned from Joseph about how to prevent a famine.

Joseph's Rise to Power

Joseph saved Egypt from the famine, but in due time he returned to Cannan and he was reunited with his father and brothers.

Kudos thought he would take matters into his own hands and he had thousands of innocent people slaughtered that he considered non-essential and three among them were Lt. Kevin Thomas Riley's father, mother, and sister.

Lord Andrew Charles truly felt for Lt. Kevin Thomas Riley and the loss of his family on Talos IV and Lord Charles Andrew JR and Lord Richard William Carey told him how sorry that his good parents and sister had lost their lives to a genocidal maniac.

Kudos and his daughter escaped the authorities and The United Federation of Planets was sure that one of the enemies were hiding his daughter and him, but in time he would be caught along with his daughter, but the aftermath of this sad event was that Kudos daughter accidentally killed her father board the USS Enterprise after they put on The play Macbeth. It was Mr. Spock that identified his voice. When they tried to apprehend his daughter pulled out the phaser and threatened to kill some of the crew and when Capt. Kirk tries to grab the phaser. She pulled the trigger and the phase was set on to kill and it struck her father.

Kudos died at the hands of his own daughter but at a civil trial they found her to be mentally insane and they committed her to an United Federation of Planet Penal Colony for the criminally insane where she would spend the rest of her life until she died.

Lt. Kevin Thomas Riley never forgot what happened to his father, mother, and sister, not even after he married Lady Isabella Collins in 2278.

Lord Andrew Charles sits in the garden and wonders what Kevin Riley, Lord Richard William Carey and Karissa are doing.
