School starts and I am running late. I always have hated Monday’s, I dress quickly in a pair of jeans, regular shoes and a shirt with a hoodie run a quick brush through my hair and I am out the door. As I make my way up the street I see the face of my best friend and in no hurry walk toward her! This weekend has been an adventure packed one for someone who never does anything. I reach Emily and smile, She comments quickly,

“What happen to you this weekend? You never called and I was starting to worry about you!”

I smile and I don’t know exactly how to tell her about John and his moves or about how Derek and I are talking of dating but I open my mouth and I blurt,

“John and I went on a mini date and I am thinking of making a go with Derek!”

He face is shocked and instantly I know she is going to want way more details, but thankfully before she has the time to ask we are approaching school and the first bell had already rang so I can avoid the topic for now. I smile hug her and run to my first class. Sitting next to me is John and I do not bother to look his way!

The next few classes pass by slowly and before I can get to excited the lunch bell rings, and I know I am in for an interrogation. Emily meets me at our table inside, and sits next to me holding her bottle she says Valery Elisa Gail Spill the beans. I grin and start off,

“ Well I went out with Derek on Friday and things went a bit crazy, and I was not even thinking about making a go and then Saturday night John called and kissed me and I went home. That’s the important details.”

I know she is not excited that I left out details but she is at least glad I said something and I catch her before she can speak and say,

“How was your date and who was it with? Your time to spill the beans Emily Victoria Scott!!”

She looks mad, she hates when people use her full name and she perks up excited to tell her tell,

“Well, believe it or not I went out with Joey, the graduate that all the girls die for! He was amazing we saw a movie and went to dinner! Two nights in a row! My weekend was awesome!!”

She is still star struck by this college kid! I laugh and the bell rings our final half of the day is here, and it occurs to me I never check to see if Derek emailed me back! What if he thinks I am again ignoring him! Oh I must be off to a terrible start! How on earth will he think I am in this for real if I cannot manage a simple checking of email!

Finally the day is over and I rush to my locker, I put my books away and head out the double doors to the front of the school, Emily is waiting and I quickly wave and walk by, I can tell she is in question as to why I am in such a rush but I have to get home to check my darn email.

I get into my room and wait on the computer to boot up and sign into my email and I have nothing. Still no reply. I think to myself perhaps he had moved on to someone else and they are taking him up on his offer. I mean after all it was fair. He just wants someone back home to care about that is not saying that he is crazy, just looking for love… ugh! Why does this have to be so difficult? Then no sooner to I avert my eyes to the window I hear the BING of and incoming email and my heart leaps could this be him?

My stomach is suddenly in my throat and I am completely nervous. I look at the clock it is three thirty and I know I only have a little while to get homework done and get ready. So quickly I finish my homework thank goodness today was a light load, only some algebra and a small English paper. Then when finished the clock reads four forty and I am in panic, he will be here soon. I run to my closet and look at what I have to wear, I grab my winter dress that is great when its cold and still is casual I grab my boots quickly and then my hair, oh what to do with my hair, I am half tempted to bun it on the top of my head instead I grab my straightener and quickly plug it in. After I finish my hair  I look down at the clock its four fifty nine and I hear a knock at the door.
