Bear Witness While She Bears Weight

Bear Witness While She Bears Weight

A Poem by JessicaRose

She's had this conversation

so many times and in

so many different ways

that the words are starting to get lost

in each other,

her meaning striated by all these

pent up emotions

she's been teaching herself to contain.

But what for?

He should see this.

Bear witness to this rawness he

created in her.

His special brand of poison is

setting a blaze down her throat,

corroding all her organs,

Putrefying her from the inside out.

She's turning to stone with the weight of these

words she's tangling around herself.

And she has a sneaking suspicion

that if she were to wade out into the water,

he wouldn't waste a hand to save her

from sinking.
