Drifting Snow

Drifting Snow

A Poem by BarbedWireButterfly

Water slivering over my skin
Ice clinging to my fingernails
A chill to the bone

Change your tone of voice
That bubble of emotion
Bursting under your tongue
You're bound to get better

How can you look at me
With such determination
Yet with such patheticness

Weak hands limp by your sides
Caught in a web of your lies
Snow drifting downwards
Spiralling from you

These stitches have come undone
From those poisonous words
You spat at me one night

The cold has set in ever so quickly
Snow sweeping away my disgust
As I look at you, crumpled on the floor
Lost amongst these rotting floorboards
