Giving BackA Poem by BevFor my mother.
I can't say I'm perfect, for I know of my own faults,
And, you've done your best to mold me, so banish any thoughts.
I have to be sure and thank you, for making sure I grow,
Instilling seeds of knowledge, I'll try and reap what you have sown.
If for some reason, I get confused and go the other way,
It's not your fault, you've done your best, just pray God knows my way.
For now, I strive to do my best and follow in your path,
I know what's right from wrong, doing my best to avoid the Almighty's wrath.
I cry enough for both of us, my heart-break runs quite deep,
So, give the gift of love, be sure to let it seep.
Show your smile, and lift your head, don't ever cry for me,
I need someone who's strong enough to keep me from hurting me.
I know you've got your own problems, and I'll try my best to be there,
I have to, you see, you've been there for me, my dear mother it's only fair.
Be fair, and share your load, when your heart needs to mend,
I'll be the very best kind of daughter, a loving, caring friend.
