Lovely Shades of Red

Lovely Shades of Red

A Poem by Darl1ng N1kk1

All around her everything is red

It's in her tangled mess of hair,

on her clothes and at her feet.

What's left of the mirror gleams,

a rust colored reflection displays the mess.

She knew it was coming

when he began to scream

so frightening and painful.

The mirror shattered when he

pounded his hand into it.

So angry, so horrifying.

She, in the bathtub

with the razor poised at her calf

was taken off guard

yet prepared all the same.

When she stood up he held her

so tightly

but this was no lover's embrace.

She could feel the cold wetness

streaming down her spine

as tears simultaneously began to pour.

Now all that is left is the pain

and the red.

It's everywhere

but mostly in a pool at her feet

reflecting her tear soaked face

making the tears seem red.

Interesting...it seems to be a metaphor for heartbreak. Quite the troubling poem...written in a very unique style.

Nice work...
