Love Bombs

Love Bombs

A Poem by Free Thinker

Undivided attention
Continuous compliments
Constant affection
Holding hands
Making plans
Flowers and cards
Reassurance
It's ok let down your guard
Placed on a pedestal
Magical
Intimate desires
Souls and hearts catching fire
Lust
Apprehensive fears turned to dust
Suddenly everything stops
Like frozen hands on an old run down clock
Invisible
Hate fueled words
Cold hearted rejection
Hands left bruised and bleeding afterwards
Cancelled plans
Dead flowers and ripped up cards
She let down her guard
Knocked off the pedestal
Unimaginable
Intimacy dead
Souls and hearts turned to ice instead
Disgust
Fears become real losing trust

“Souls and hearts turned to ice instead”. Definitely my favourite line. I can sense your confidence growing through out this poem. Your style of writing reminds me of myself when I first started writing. The more you practice, the more it feels like a release. I’ve enjoyed this read. It takes me back to my past relationships.

From bliss to hell. You cover that transition so well here. From the start of a relationship with its excitement and loving through to the start and ending of the slippery slope. Sad to think that's the way the cookie crumbles with some romances. Very well conveyed Free Thinker.

this is really very good.. transitioning from courtship to the life long work of an ongoing "relationship" is probably what keeps most councilors in business.. and whether one stays or goes the price can be high.. unfortunately we often don't have a clue what that price might really be in the end.. and sadly.. we are often not the only ones to pay..

A very emotive piece that I enjoyed reading. Many can relate to these words because they reveal so much about us as human beings and our strive to find that elusive love we yearn for. And the price we are willing to pay for it. Thank you for sharing your poem with us.
