These Memories Imprison Me

These Memories Imprison Me

A Poem by Free Thinker

The memories once so clear
Begin to fade and
Are replaced with tears
Never wanting to forget
Holding on so tight
Never wanting to let go of it
Life flies by so fast
Making it impossible to
Hold on to the past
Letting go is so hard to grasp
Living underneath it all
Caught up in the trap
Set free from all these once
Cherished memories
As time ticks on
Leaving room
For all that stands in front of me

I feel in many ways we can relate to these words and how they reflect within our own individual lives. When art comes from a place of truth one can't help but see themselves in it. Thank you for sharing your words.
