A Beautiful Coolness In A Hot Zone
by Tricia Pattinson

Perfect temperature - 85 F
Sultry winds and kissing Sun
Caressing warmth
Unexpected storms

The beauty of the desert
Colors and textures
Little bity falling stones
Mountains crooked against the bluest sky

Majesty all around
The World seems stronger
Less fragile
It stands tall to me - taller than me

A stoicism in reverence
As its prayers rise
In glistening waves
From the exsanguinated sand it sings

How beautiful life seems
In this great desert engulfing me
Precious greens and blues swaggering through
Turquoise blends amongst Sun scorched sand

And when the temperature jumps high 90
It burns my flesh
As if I were sailing
Under a cloudless sky

I treasure the thirst for life
That springs itself from my cave
Juggernauts my heart to save
As a drop of water spares

Coolness rushes across the land
When the night and stars are launched
And still I linger in the dark
Admiring the irony in those shades of coal

I adore the great depth of vivid imagery here. There's a subtle story lying in waits behind your words that add a sense of mystery to the piece. Such beauty in this write! Well done.
