Behind The Politics
by Tricia Pattinson Peoples' Power Fills mighty halls With dreams And fears Usurpers wait like ghosts What shall flow From the dye cast most? A lifting of the World Or entombing of Hope? With heads bowed In work and prayer Secret collusion Hidden well When the Peoples' Power Tastes of fear and rage Suddenly bursts the mighty halls With mighty food those ghosts do seize What comes from keeping hope well? A quiet landscaped plain of wealth A place where clouds are silvery lined Where peace helps keep safe every willing soul The People's Power safely deposited Even the most disagreeable sorts are beneficiaries But always there are opportunists lurking Long time depositing suffering Claiming divine insight Dividing power for themselves Growing in numbers these callous souls Feed the people with destruction of old They want the mighty halls to burst They seek to rule at any cost It is better to rule a world afire Than live in peace and desire for higher © 2014 Tricia PattinsonReviews
