The Dark Horse

The Dark Horse

A Poem by Tricia Pattinson

The Dark Horse
by Tricia Pattinson

Pale eyes stare from the corner
Your gaze, uncovered, drifts to me
Through scented whiffs of chimneys
Filling the air like too much perfume
Trapped in a potpourri
Your eyes dart behind the waves
Of smokey foam meandering
Hiding too late your gaze
I saw your clever mind
The pain and whys
Awareness of where you are -
The dark horse's domicile

It's clear and simple... I like the last two lines,
"Awareness of where you are -
The dark horse's domicile ".
